People need order in their lives. People need to know what outranks what, and why it does so. We have taken an exhaustive look at every aspect of modern life, and have compiled this list. This is the definitive ranking of the people, the things, and the emotions that have shaped and changed our world, for better or for worse, over the last 10 years.
Of course based on it’s sheer size the list had to be broken into a number of smaller parts.
This week we kick it off with numbers 100 - 94, stay tuned for Part II on April 16th.
100. THE COLOR ORANGE
Narrowly making the top 100, the color orange squeezed out other contenders, such as blue and green, by staying true to what makes it so great – it’s color. “The color orange sticks out like a Pinto at a Porsche dealership” said Heather Dinich of ESPN in a quote unrelated to the content of this list. I couldn’t agree more Heather… I couldn’t agree more.
99. HEATHER DINICH (blogger, ESPN.com)
Whether it’s her hard hitting criticism of the color orange, the way she handled the ESPN Mailbag Blog Comment Error controversy of 2009, or her willingness to cover topics others wouldn’t dare touch; Heather’s influence has been felt far and wide in the world of sports journalism. Kudos to you, Heather.
98. EAGER
A Google search for the emotion “eager” brings up about 33,119 results (with safe search on), which seems low. Then you come to the conclusion that you were searching Google News rather than the whole Web and edit your search accordingly. That brings up about 45,200,000 results. Not too bad for an emotion that I’m not sure is even an actual emotion!
Imagine you did a Google search on the word “eager” while researching a list you’re compiling for your blog. Now imagine you clicked on about the 9th link from the top. You’d find yourself at E.A.G.E.R., a comprehensive list of every Amiga game ever released. This groundbreaking website has quickly become the definitive primary resource destination for Amiga academics with such valuable information as the gaming manual for Wizball, and screen shots from Clown-O-Mania:
96. CALCIUM
Not happy with missing the list in 2004, Calcium spent the past 7 years perfecting itself, and has been rewarded with a spot in the top 100. “Most people think I am only good at building stronger, denser bones early in life and keeping bones strong and healthy later in life,” said the inanimate element “but I also react with water, evolving hydrogen gas at a rate rapid enough to be noticeable, but not fast enough at room temperature to generate much heat. As well, it’s especially incredible that I’m able to provide a quote, considering I am a mineral.”
Everyone knows the classic movie, but it hasn’t shone like this since it was last shown on the big screen in 1994. Blu Ray allows the sprawling scope to play out as originally intended. This is why digital media was created, and is changing the way we view the world. But don’t take my word for it – check out these reviews:
94. JIM DOYLE (Governor of Wisconsin , 2003 – 2011)
His time as Governor led to the state of Wisconsin being named the most average state in the union. I don’t claim to know anything about the politics of the badger state, or any state for that matter, but this man obviously knows how to pick the easy jobs.
